I' ve heard aboutout fat" before and simply came to the conclusion that i must have been holding my breath for 7-8 hours a night. Very confusing! Also, thanks for addressing the " eat less/exercise more" myth. I' m a senior citizen who went keto (educated by your videos) i lost 50 pounds by eating three slices of bacon and three eggs (for b-fast) and coffee with heavy cream, and never even started exercising until after i lost that 50 pounds! And now, no longer in my 50s, i have muscles. You showed me my ignorance and the way out. I don' t know where you find the patience, doc. Thank you for all you do!. ...Expand 75

@olivia89793 years ago The description of how fat is burned in the first couple minutes of your video was kind of mind blowing. I never thought about it that way.
Anyone who has done Low Fat diets many times like I have knows (at least knows deep down) that a calorie is not a calories. You can calculate exactly what you ate and theoretically what you should lose every single week. But you will never lose the weight you expect to lose. Initially you will lose more and then later you will lose less. and over the months there will be ups and downs. We are clearly not dealing with every calorie exactly the same way.
The big turning point for me from thinking of keto as a crash diet to thinking of it as a lifestyle is understanding carbs and insulin. The next mind blowing thing that influenced me was understanding that we are not obese because we eat too much. We eat too much because we are obese. Obesity is not the disease - it is a symptom (I am no longer obese though because I learned how the body really works )

@johnwilliams88183 years ago That explains much dr. Ekberg! I have recognized most of my life that there aretwo types of thinkers. There are a-b-c-d and all their decisions are processed using that thought model. Then there arethinkers who look at the entire picture in a " 3thought model. Thinkers lack " common sense" naturally as they cannot recognize consequence until they come upon it. Whereasthinkers possess " common sense" naturally because they see theconsequences in advance and avoid them. I have common sense, and see that you do too!. ...Expand 11

@FlashGordon10233 years ago Its true. In the 90s i did the low-fat diet and worked out up to 4 hours a day to lose weight. Measured everything from food to workouts and kept tra id="hidden38"ck on excel spreadsheets. It worked for the short term, but then the weight came back within 2 years. Tried to do it again and again and it never worked a second time. Even at 900 calories a day, i still gained weight. I kept blaming myself back then, but now i know that the diet didnt address the underlying cause of the extra weight, so the excess fat wasnt my fault. Two years ago, i started keto and i lost weight eating between 1500 and 20 calories a day and gentle exercised maybe 30 minutes a day. One year later, the weight is still gone. Calories in / calories out doesn' t work for me. ...Expand 3
