Are you struggling with low back pain or sciatica when rowing? This is quite common and is usually associated with disc issues or sciatica due to the rounding force on the low back. . When rounding forward this puts extra pressure on the disc and tensions the nerve and if these structures are sensitive it may not feel so good and you could end up being sore after these workouts! . This does not mean you have to stop rowing or any other exercise you enjoy but rather that simple modifications may give you the ability to perform them again without pain or sciatica! . ❌ Now I am not saying everyone needs to obsess about their spine positioning, but rather IF your low back or nerve is sensitive with this movement that perhaps we should address your positioning to help your recovery as well as exercise with less pain. . 🔑 The key here is the positioning of your hips when you initiate the row. If the hips are too far back the low back will do all the pulling/rounding and this may set it off. If you scoot your hips closer before you initiate each pull you will be in a more upright/neutral position and you may find this to be a lot more comfortable for you! This will give you the opportunity to exercise more pain free and help your low back/sciatic nerve recover! Now let’s fix your low back! . 🙏 Tag a friend that needs this and leave a comment with your thoughts! . ✅ Want to fix your low back 1-on-1 with me?
