@Ensule3 years ago The laughing and shoulder touching thing reminded me of a time when I was staying at a sorority house a couple years ago. One of the girls there would always manage to fit in a shoulder-touch-and-slide-down thing into every conversation, paired with suggestive eye movements and speech patterns. I assumed she wasn't flirting because I followed the wisdom of Casually Explained, but also because she had a boyfriend, which means that if she was flirting, she:
a) wanted to cheat on him
b) was in a non-monogamous relationship and was seeing how I would react
c) was checking to see if I would be open to a ahem 3-person wrestling match
d) wanted to see how I would react as some form of amusement
I just figured that she just must be a touchy person in general and moved on because you never really know with these things... ... 447

@12DAMDO3 years ago it's interesting how people have mistaken me being nice as "flirting" as well.. i had a lot of times where i got rejected by random girls without even having asked her out (don't remember their names because to me they were less than friends) and there was one time (2 if internet strangers count) where a guy accused me of being a manipulative narcissist after i rejected him...
idk why tbh because i find my niceness to be kinda underwhelming and i can even be passive aggressive at times (like playfully mocking people, something you'd do with friends) ... 2

The hand on the shoulder where they slide down was obvious since sliding your hand away instead of just taking it off is indicative of attraction; however, the conversation one was more vague depending on other variables they very well could be flirting but those others variable weren't specified. ...
